Almost one month after YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was attacked with a knife in the airport here, his blood-stained shirt was handed over to the Seventh Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Friday.
It was handed over to the judge by YSRCP leader Malla Vijay Prasad and counsel Kalidas Reddy.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been seeking the custody of the shirt since launching investigation into the case as it is a key evidence in the case. J. Srinivasa Rao, a waiter at a restaurant located on the airport premises, had attacked Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy inside the VIP Lounge on October 25 with a knife generally used in rooster fights.
The YSRCP also filed a memo requesting the judge not to handover the shirt to SIT till the writ petition filed by Mr. Reddy in the High Court was heard.
Mr. Reddy had filed the petition seeking a direction for launching investigation by an independent agency not functioning under the control of the State government, which was represented by its Principal Secretary, Home Department, and the DGP. The writ petition would come up for hearing on November 27. Considering the plea, the judge posted the matter to December 7 for further hearing.
Remand extended
Meanwhile, for the second time since his arrest, Srinivasa Raos judicial remand was extended till December 7.
