Commemorating 25 years of bilateral ties which began as anti-submarine warfare exercise in 1994, the Republic of Singapore Navy and Indian Navy are now showcasing their prowess .

The navies are involved in a thick of action with the undertaking of exercises like multiple missile firings, heavy weight torpedo and medium range gun/anti-submarine rocket firings, advanced anti-submarine warfare, submarine rescue demonstrations, integrated surface and anti-air warfare and cross deck helicopter flying. After completing sea phase, the ships, submarines and aircraft of two navies are undertaking multi-dimensional exercises off the Visakhapatnam coast.

Chief of Indian Navy Admiral Sunil Lanba and his Singapore counterpart Rear Admiral Lew Chuen Hong unveiled the logo of Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) and simultaneously released the SIMBEX Indian postal cover and Singapore stamps to mark the silver jubilee .

Final phase

 We are proud of having the longest planned exercises continuously for 25 years, Admiral Lanba said on board INS Sahyadri at the Naval Base here.

Rear Admiral Hong said the simultaneous release of postal cover and stamps by Indian and Singaporean Postal Departments typified the significance of the relationship between the two nations.

The event will witness the sea phase. The highlight of the final phase will be the presence of Defence Ministers of both countries. Indian Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her Singapore counterpart are scheduled to have third Ministerial-level dialogue on Tuesday after witnessing the display of naval might of the two forces.
