Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited (GVSCCL) will now track its water supply by Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)-based water utility management system. District Collector and GVSCCL board chairman K Bhaskar gave his in-principle approval for the project during a Smart City Board Meeting, here on Tuesday.
The ₹90 crore project will help the civic body monitoring water supply process and also track its wastage, through the Smart city’s Command Control Centre (CCC) to which it will be linked. Several monitoring devices will be in place to perform the control actions.
According to officials, the system will monitor real time status of the water in the tanks and in the supply lines. A control for opening and closing of valves will also be developed. The system will help in supplying water according to the requirement of the area.
