Around 150 children, all cancer survivors, showcased their talent at a programme organised by Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, in association with Shreya Cancer Foundation at Childrens Theatre, here on Wednesday, marking the Childrens Day. The children took part in dance events and other entertainment activities.

VMRDA Commissioner P. Basanth Kumar inaugurated the event. Hand paintings, signature campaign, a magic show and cultural programmes were organised as part the celebrations. Mouth watering delicacies such as pizza, pani poori and few others, apart from lunch was served to the children.

Competitions held

Childrens Day was also celebrated at Lebenshilfe School for Mentally Challenged at MVP Colony. Painting competition titled Tare Zameen Par  was organised and the best paintings were awarded. The children performed Dhimsa dance and other cultural events.

At Lions Club, Visakhapatnam, competitions in 42 events were organised in which more than 2,000 children from 120 schools took part. Events such painting, chess, essay writing, folk dance, quiz, classical dance, fancy dress among others were organised in junior and senior categories. Awards and certificates were given away to the winners by RINL Chief Vigilance Officer P.J. Vijaykar.
