The first-ever India-Israel Sunrise Open Challenge Hackathon (SOCH) finale ended after a tough tussle among the participants here on Monday, with five winning teams, all from India, walking away with the prize money worth ₹50 lakh.
The hackathon was conducted by Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society (APIS) in association with DCF Ventures and Axis Innovation, separately in Tel Aviv and Visakhapatnam.
“The response to the two-nation hackathon was overwhelming,” APIS CEO Winny Patro said.
Cyber security
The team Headrunners bagged the top prize of ₹22 lakh in the cyber security category for showcasing an intelligent chat-box with complex visualisations to identify the latest threats and their data using open, deep and dark web. The second prize winner Jalasoftner in the drinking water category developed an electronic water conditioner with activated filter media.
The team used a series of controlled complex modulating high frequency waveform to neutralise the bonding ability of minerals in water.
Both the first and second prize winners were from Andhra Pradesh.
Urban Straw, the runner-up team from Karnataka, bagged ₹8.8 lakh in the agriculture category. It has developed artificial intelligence-driven integrated, seed-centric data collection solution to aid in marketing, subsidy, insurance, credit, secure farms and farmers.
IIDTians, a team of students from Tirupati, emerged the second runner-up in the cyber security category for developing an endpoint security based on zero-trust model working on detection and quarantine of known and unknown malwares, with protection against malicious internet traffic for client system.
Another student team Hack O’hlics, which took part in challenge held in drinking water from Tamil Nadu, innovated a device that could measures contaminants present in drinking water.
Phoenix, a team of State from State, received a prize of ₹1.5 lakh for its blockchain and data mining product, which would be useful for agriculture.
The Israel leg of the hackathon was conducted in Tel Aviv on January 27 and 28.
‘Gaming Garage’
The valedictory saw exchanging of MoU by Mr. Patro and Jakko Karkola from Kajaani University, Finland and Sailesh Sigatapu, partner, Anthill Ventures-India. Both the firms are keen on developing a ‘Gaming Garage’ at Amaravati.
Among others, NRDC CMD H. Purushotham, Agriculture Department Director (technical) D. Ramprasad and former Additional Secretary (agriculture) of Maharashtra, S.K. Goel were present on the occasion.
