A refreshing loungewas inaugurated by Visakhapatnam MP K. Haribabu, in the presence of Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur and HPCL Visakh Refinery Executive Director A.S.V. Ramanan on the Gnanapuram-side of the Visakhapatnam Railway Station on Wednesday. The refreshing lounge was constructed at a cost of ₹75 lakh. Of this, ₹49.50 lakh was contributed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Visakh refinery from its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds under Swachh Bharat Mission.
A diamond-shaped elevated ramp provides access to the lounge from Platform No. 8. The lounge is constructed with high quality fittings and finished in a record time of three-and-a-half months.
Digital museum
A digital museum, set up at the old main entrance on PF-1 side, was also commissioned by Mr. Haribabu. The idea of the digital museum is to showcase the heritage of Indian Railways through short movie clips on digital LED screens. Apart from short films, photographs of heritage buildings, heritage locomotives, Swachhta videos, awareness campaign videos and many more would be displayed to create awareness among people on the rich heritage of Indian Railways.
The LED screen (video wall), costing ₹2 lakh, was sponsored by HPCL,Visakh Refinery, under Swachh Bharat CSR funds.
