A Regional Joint Directors (RJD) Office of the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) will be set up in Visakhapatnam soon, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said here on Thursday, adding that the State government would soon announce opening of 50 junior colleges more in the State.
Participating as the chief guest of the golden jubilee celebrations of BIE at AU Convention Centre, he described that Intermediate education was the turning point in a students career. Underlining the significance of teachers in moulding the future of students, he said the allocation of 15 % of the budget to education was a reflection of the priority the government was according to education. BIE Commissioner Udayalakshmi said starting with humble beginnings 50 years ago, the board has come a long way with 3,014 junior colleges and 10 lakh Intermediate students under its jurisdiction now. She counted online admissions, introduction of biometrics for teachers attendance, e-office for movement of files, online question papers, jumbling system and CC surveillance during examinations to prevent malpractices as the important achievements of the board in the recent years.
The BIE has been recognised as the best Intermediate Board at the national level recently, she added.
Technology upgrade
Participating in the programme, Cyient Limited Founder and Executive Chairman B.V.R. Mohan Reddy said rapid upgrade in technology was opening a floodgate of opportunities for students.
One need to learn continuously and so long as you learn, you will succeed and there are lot off opportunities. Instead of looking for jobs, students should pursue entrepreneurship and create jobs for many, he said.
