Andhra University authorities at the academic Senate meeting on Wednesday took several key decisions on revision of syllabi, introduction of new courses among others.
At the meeting attended by Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao, former Vice-Chancellors and other key officials of the AU administration, the Senate members gave approval to the proposal of introduction of a B.A. programme with psychology, journalism, literature as the major subjects in all affiliated colleges.
Entrance test
A decision was also taken to offer a three-month certificate course in Telugu language for the NRIs and students from other States.
It has been to stop the entrance tests for the admission into M.A., programmes in political science, English and MED courses being offered at the PG Centre in Vizainagaram from the coming academic year. Entrances would resume only after basic amenities are ensured at the centre, Prof. Nageswara Rao said.
Referring to the other decisions, he said the AU Senate had given nod to change in the syllabi for arts, science, engineering and pharmacy courses.
The Senate also discussed about the conduct of special drive examinations for PG, professional courses, apart from analysing the measures to improve the quality and standards of MBA courses, he said.
Special cell for MoUs
During the meet, former V-C K.V. Ramana suggested that an exclusive cell should be set up to deal with the MoUs signed with other universities. Some member of the Senate suggested that the AU officials should conduct a survey of the assets belonging to the university and initiate measures to protect the valuable land.
In response, Prof. Nageswara Rao said that the survey would be undertaken soon.
