Experts at the five-day psychometric expo, being organised by the Psychology Department of Andhra University that began on Friday called for appointment of qualified psychologists at schools, colleges and universities, to counsel students and help them cope with the academic stress.
Inaugurating the expo, AU Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao opined that such exhibitions would help offer solution to various mental health problems.
Yoga therapy
Expressing concern at the growing mental health problems in India, he said yoga has been being used for centuries here to overcome mental health problems. He called upon people to make use of the expo to find solutions to their problems.
Presiding over the inaugural, Director of Centre for Psychological Assessment and Counselling M.V.R. Raju said that the incidence of depression was growing across the globe and India was among those nations at the top. Prof. Raju said there were facilities for 400 different tests at the expo. Problems relating to depression, tensions, marital problems could be dealt with at ease.
