Australia captain Tim Paine won the toss and elected to bat first in the second test against India at Perth Stadium on Friday.
India, who won the first test in Adelaide to take a 1-0 lead in the four-test series, decided to field four seamers and no specialist spinner. The tourists were forced to make two changes to their team after injuries to batsman Rohit Sharma and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Hanuma Vihari, who offers some part-time spin, returns to the side for Rohit in the middle order, while paceman Umesh Yadav comes in for Ashwin.
Paine said that Australia would send out a side unchanged from that which lost the series-opener by 31 runs.
