The Building Committee of Andhra University has approved several new construction plans including the quarters in the Visakhapatnam campus and hostel buildings at Vizianagaram.
The meeting on Thursday with Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao in the chair resolved to construct two separate hostels for boys and girls on the university campus at Vizianagaram at an estimated investment of ₹2.45 crore and compound wall to the campus spending ₹88 lakh.
Quarters will be constructed for Class IV employees at Sivajipalem with an outlay of ₹7 crore. It also resolved to introduce third party quality control method.
A compound will be constructed for the Innovation Centre on the North campus and car parking facility at with a cost of ₹65 lakh.
Multi-storied complex
The committee has also approved, in principle, to construct a multi-storied complex at Siripuram and gave nod to the project, an official release said.
The renovation of the first and second floor of the Department of Commerce and Management Studies will be undertaken at ₹10 lakh under the UGC Special Assistance Programme.
Additional toilets will be built at the Women’s Hostel at Maharanipeta and Saddharma Sadhana Hostel and the reading room at Dr. V.S. Krishna Libarary, spending ₹68 lakh.
Repairs to the university quarters will be undertaken at ₹32 lakh to accommodate the Centre for Economic Social Studies, the release said.
