The Andhra Pradesh IT Academy (APITA), in collaboration with the IT Association of AP (ITAAP), will launch free short-term courses in the city to enable the engineering and management graduates and master degree holders in science and computer applications to get jobs in local IT companies.
The first course in full stack web development and android development will be of 45-day duration which will be launched at Dr. Lankapalli Bulluyya College on September 5.
Registration
The last date for submitting applications online for the candidates from Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and East Godavari districts is August 18. Registration can be done by visiting www.apita.ap.gov.in.The written examination will be conduced on August 25. Each course with an intake capacity of 50 will be useful for BPO/BPM and IT units.
The decision to introduce the course was taken by the State government on the request of IT companies including Conduent based in the city which informed IT Minister Nara Lokesh during his recent visit that they were not able to expand their activity for want of trained manpower.
Salary package
“The candidates after successful completion of the courses will be absorbed by the IT companies with a minimum package of ₹1.4 lakh per annum,” Special Chief Secretary and IT Advisor J.A. Chowdrary said after launching a book ‘Look for Employment in Andhra Pradesh’ (LEAP) here. APITA CEO B. Sundar, Additional CEO Winny Patro and ITAAP president R.L. Narayana were also present.

Mr. Chowdary said the ITAAP had agreed to arrange resource persons from the member-companies. “Due to shrinking margins, many IT companies are not able to offer on-the-job training. They will impart the training to those passing out in the 2017-18 academic year free of cost. A helpline (086662841900) will be available during the working hours to answer the queries from the interested candidates,” he added.
